TWU Local 556 Negotiation Update #12
The Negotiating Committee met with Management this week for a three-day session. TWU Local 556 is still reviewing the counterproposal for hotel language and the FAR 10-Hour Rest language. We presented Management with our second proposal for Article 25—Health and Safety. This session, Management presented their counterproposal for Article 19—Grievance Procedures, and presented Article 20—Board of Adjustment.
Article 25—Health and Safety
After careful review of Management’s counterproposal, the NT responded with many of the same provisions put forth in our first proposal. With recent issues such as the MAX 8 grounding, hot aircraft, and animals on board, we believe Management must show safety and security is paramount, by accepting the language proposed. Our Safety Committee Chairperson Michael Massoni joined us at the table as our subject matter expert.
Article 19—Grievance Procedures/Article 20—Board of Adjustment
After reviewing Management’s counterproposal, our team responded with questions. Management also included a proposal for Article 20—Board of Adjustment. We are reviewing the legal ramifications of some of the language proposed.
Our next bargaining session is scheduled for June 25 and 26 and will be hosted at the TWU Local 556 Office.
As we work through the negotiation process, going article by article, we draft language based on Membership feedback. Don’t forget, your voice is vital to this Member-driven negotiation. Please continue to email us at nt@staging1.twu556.org.
