Negotiating Committee Update
The Union and the Company have scheduled a series of meetings to discuss the FAR 10-hour rest requirement within the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 and its impact on Southwest Airlines Flight Attendants.
On November 16, the TWU Local 556 Negotiating Committee will present a counter-proposal to the Company. The details of implementing this requirement will follow the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Notice of Proposed Rulemaking issued on October 20, 2021.
The Union and Company have agreed to meet November 30 through December 3 for discussion and bargaining on this topic. It is the Union’s expectation that the parties should be able to reach an agreement following these scheduled dates on terms surrounding implementation of the FAA’s 10-hour rest requirements.
The Negotiating Committee will keep Members informed of changes to rest that will impact the quality of life for Flight Attendants.
