TWU LOCAL 556 NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE UPDATE #51
Your Only Official Source of Factual Information

Dear Member:

In meetings held on December 10, and December 16, the Union and the Company continued discussions on the FAR 10-hour rest requirement within the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 and its impact on Southwest Airlines Flight Attendants.

Together, the parties are continuing to work through the myriad of provisions in the Collective Bargaining Agreement that this new rest requirement will affect. The parties have worked productively with a focus on contract language, which allows the most amount of time possible for Flight Attendant rest. Significant progress has been made at the table on this issue and the Union is optimistic that the parties can iron out the remaining items and conclude negotiations on this topic at the turn of the new year.

The Union and the Company will meet again on January 4 to continue discussions on the terms associated with this new rest requirement’s implementation.
