Southwest Airlines Flight 3923 Havana Evacuation
WU Local 556 was notified on Sunday morning, March 5, 2023, of an incident involving Southwest Airlines Flight 3923 HAV-FLL. The aircraft encountered multiple bird strikes causing a shutdown of one of the engines, which necessitated an air turnback and subsequent evacuation utilizing escape slides.
All 143 passengers and Crew are safe and accounted for. The Flight Attendants working this flight are being cared for by Members of our Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team and Members of the TWU Local 556 Executive Board. Additionally, the TWU Local 556 Safety Team will be working closely with Southwest Airlines’ Safety, Regulatory Compliance, Emergency Response and Investigative Teams to represent the Members involved and establish causal and additive factors in the incident.
