Spirit Airlines Ceases Operations

Earlier today, Spirit Airlines ceased all operations. Moments like this are a sobering reminder that our industry is shaped by many forces beyond our control. While we may operate in a competitive environment, there is a shared bond among aviation professionals – when one group is affected, it resonates across all of us.

Airline employees, and Crew Members in particular, are often connected in unexpected ways. It’s likely that members of our community have friends, former colleagues, or loved ones among those impacted today. These were meaningful, union jobs and careers that changed in an instant. This will also have a great impact on the communities Spirit Airlines served.

In the days ahead, Spirit Crew Members and employees may be traveling on Southwest Airlines as they make their way home. As we always do, we will extend care, respect, and support during this difficult time.

We stand with you in Solidarity and wish the outcome had been different.
