An Agreement in Principle has been reached between the TWU Local 556 Negotiating Committee and the Company.

In multiple negotiation sessions throughout the week of May 30, the Negotiating Committee met and bargained with Southwest Airlines Labor Relations and Southwest Airlines Management in the presence of mediators from the National Mediation Board.

The parties will spend next week finalizing Contract language before the Negotiating Committee presents the complete Tentative Agreement to the TWU Local 556 Executive Board for review. That review will be conducted in a series of meetings scheduled throughout the week of June 13.

The process for whether a Tentative Agreement becomes a Collective Bargaining Agreement is outlined in Union Bylaws: The TWU Local 556 Constitution stipulates that after a thorough review of the Tentative Agreement, the Executive Board then votes on whether the Tentative Agreement will be sent to the Membership for a vote. If the Executive Board votes to send it to the Membership, it will be the responsibility of each Member to educate themselves on the many aspects of the Tentative Agreement and determine their own vote. Until that time, the Negotiating Committee and Executive Board are unable to release details, so we appreciate Members’ patience throughout this process.

Please stay informed and engaged.
