Amisha asks: Is this the ‘LUV’ airline?
For Flight Attendant Amisha Thomas, leaving her previous airline was a tough decision. But after all that she had heard about Southwest Airlines, she thought this might be the place that would value her.
“You go into training and you believe this airline is such the ‘LUV’ airline,” Amisha recalled. “But when I came here, Southwest knocked themselves off the pedestal.”
On her day off, Amisha returned a call from Crew Scheduling, not knowing that returning that call would require her to work a trip on her day off. “Because I did not accept the trip, I got points — and points, accumulated, can get you terminated,” she said. Noting that she’s a grown adult who needs control of her own schedule, Amisha voices the same frustration heard from across the more than 18,000 Members of TWU Local 556 who fly for Southwest Airlines.
