Note: The following update was emailed to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale-based Flight Attendants on October 22, 2021. If you’d like to receive emails from TWU Local 556, please email communications@staging1.twu556.org.

To say the last few years have been a shit show is an understatement. Every time we have gotten past one crisis another one has popped up in its place. I have said this before and will say it again if you need me I am always available. With that here is what is Happening in Baltimore:

Lounge Seating

The recliners the Base ordered have arrived!!!

Emergency Sick Call Procedures (ESCP)

As a practice, if you have to call in sick during ESCP the company will require you to see the Company Doctor (Concentra) or go to an Urgent Care (in-network). You are required to print out the workability form to take with you, to be filled out by the doctor. Please also print out the Emergency Self Declaration to present to the doctor, it lists the symptoms you cannot report to work with.

Base leaders are reporting that Baltimore Flight Attendants are not responding to reasonable requests. What this means is when an Inflight Base Manager or Supervisor reaches out to you for Irregularity Reports or any information they deem reasonable, you must comply.

It is important to note anytime you are speaking to management you have a right to stop the conversation. Simply ask “Can this conversation lead to discipline?” And if the response is yes, state “ I respectfully request that a Local 556 Union Representative be present.”

Fatigue Policy

The BWI Inflight Base leaders are reporting that Baltimore Flight Attendants are not filling out the Flight Attendant Fatigue Report in the required 24hr timeframe from the initial fatigue call. Though voluntary, this report is required to be considered for pay and provides valuable information to help identify the root cause of a fatigue event.
