TWU Local 556 remains committed to protecting your rights and ensuring the new Cabin Tidying Agreement is honored.

Thanks to our recent settlement with Southwest Airlines, we now have clear language that distinguishes tidying from cleaning and guarantees support when cleaning is required. A Read Before Fly and manual revision were sent on June 16, 2025, and the Ground Operations teams have been briefed.

Know your rights

Under Articles 5 and 24.2 of the CBA and the new letter of agreement, Flight Attendants make a reasonable effort to tidy, defined as:

• crossing seatbelts
• picking up visible trash that can be reached without crawling on the floor
• removing visible trash from seatback pockets without reaching into unseen areas
• lowering armrests, opening overhead bins, and securing tray tables
• using the onboard sweeper to remove loose debris

Anything beyond these tasks is cleaning, not tidying, and the Company must provide personnel who are not Flight Attendants when you request assistance. You cannot be disciplined for requesting cleaning even if it delays the flight.

When to use this form
Please complete the form below whenever:

• the cabin condition exceeds the definition of tidying
• you request cleaning assistance and it is delayed or denied
• you are told to perform cleaning duties yourself

Include photos or video if possible and provide the following: date, flight number, city pair, whether the aircraft was terminating, description of the condition, whether cleaning was requested and provided, and who performed the cleaning.
