DRT & SDRT

Q1: “What is DRT?”

Daily Release Time (DRT) is a penalty free, point free, no-pay, voluntary complete assignment pull. DRT is offered by Crew Scheduling based on anticipated operational coverage needs and adequate staffing numbers. DRT slots are awarded on a seniority basis via the established bidding process.

Q2: “Who can DRT?”

Any Flight Attendant (Lineholder or Reserve), including probationaries at least 91 days into flying, can bid for and be awarded an available DRT slot. DRT is awarded in seniority order from those who submitted a valid DRT bid (complete assignments only). In the event a Flight Attendant is bidding DRT for an out-of-base assignment, DRT is awarded by in-base seniority first, and then overall seniority.

Keep in Mind: DRT is bidding for specific DAYS off… not specific assignments off. If you submit a DRT bid in advance and end up trading your assignment for something that you’d like to work on those same days… you could still be awarded DRT! So, if you no longer want a pairing or Reserve block pulled for DRT, make sure that you delete your bid within timeframes.

Q3: “How do I DRT?”

Any Flight Attendant wanting to DRT will do so electronically. DRT bidding can be found on CrewWeb (CWA) under the Bid Input Tab.

CWA > Bid Input > DRT Bidding

The number of DRT spots offered will be posted by Crew Scheduling no later than 1600 CT the day prior and will be awarded by 1800 CT. It is the responsibility of the Flight Attendant to check their board for awards. If awarded an available DRT slot, you’ll find a yellow “DRT” bar on your CWA screen replacing your assignment.

Q4: “How much of a pairing is pulled for DRT if it’s awarded?”

The entire pairing or Reserve block will be pulled for DRT and will not be split up. In the event there is more than one trip on the Flight Attendant’s board on the day of DRT award, all assignments will be pulled for DRT.

Q5: “What is SDRT?”

Secondary Daily Release Time (SDRT) is offered by Crew Scheduling dependent on operational needs and anticipated coverage after DRT is awarded. Crew Scheduling can offer up to the same number of SDRT slots as were offered for DRT. They can also be more specific about types of assignments which can be awarded SDRT, such as trip length and/or Reserve days. SDRT spots are posted electronically and self-assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis in CWA no later than 0400 Local Time. If there are issues with self-assigning an available SDRT slot in CWA, Crew Scheduling can assist with processing the request if they have time.
