Phoenix E-Connection
Note: The following update was emailed to Phoenix-based Flight Attendants on March 6, 2023. If you’d like to receive emails from TWU Local 556, please email communications@staging1.twu556.org.
I can’t believe how fast time flies. We are already three months into 2023, with spring upon us on March 20. If you are a baseball fan, I hope you get to experience some spring training games. If baseball isn’t your thing, I hope you get to get outside and enjoy some of the warmer weather that will soon be upon us.
In this E-Connection, the change to Daylight Saving Time is specifically mentioned. For those of you who are new to the base, Arizona is one of two states that do not observe Daylight Saving time, the other being Hawaii. Since we don’t have to “spring forward” in terms of setting our clocks, I wanted to mention that we will now be two hours behind Central time when Daylight Saving time goes into effect.
In closing, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to represent you and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you need anything. You can contact me through email at jdipippa@staging1.twu556.org or call/text at 214-640-4314.
In Solidarity,
Daylight Saving Time
It’s almost time to Spring forward! Time for that extra hour of sleep. SUNDAY, March 12, 2023, Daylight Saving Time begins. Turn your clock forward one hour at 0200. (Arizona, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico do not observe Daylight Saving Time)
Unannounced Audits
There is an increase in Inflight Supervisors conducting unannounced audits. Usually, the Supervisor conducting the audit has had an issue brought to their attention, and these intentional audits are to monitor for compliance and following work rules and expectations. The Flight Attendant Work Rules and Expectations (FAWRE) can be found on your IEFB > Comply365 > Collections > Inflight Operations Manuals > FAWRE please review and be in compliance.
New Uniform Guidelines
Southwest Airlines has released updated rules regarding Uniform Standards. RBF 2023-13. These rules will go into effect on March 20, 2023. Please be familiar with any changes. On your iEFB, you can view more information on Uniforms Standards by navigating: iEFB > Comply365 > Collections > Flight Attendant Resources > Uniforms. If you have any questions or concerns, please email uniforms@staging1.twu556.org.
IEFB Coming Soon

Ordering begins on April 3, 2023, and all Flight Attendants will be required to have the latest model by June 5. This product refresh also brings a new IEFB case, and the current credit card sled will be replaced with a payment puck to accept “tap to pay.” Monitor your company email for more information on how to order your new device.
Atlanta Right of Return Complete
The April 2023 Final Vacancy award was a big month for the Atlanta domicile. After over four (4) years of waiting, all Atlanta-based Flight Attendants on the active right of return list were able to exercise their option to return to the Atlanta domicile. This will complete the Right of Return list. All future Atlanta vacancy awards will be in accordance with Article 29.3 of our Collective Bargaining Agreement. Thank you to Atlanta Domicile Executive Board Member, Alison Head, for her persistent pressure to bring our Atlanta Flight Attendants home.
