TWU Local 556 LODO Committee – Introduction

by | Sep 9, 2021 | News, Union Business

The formation of the LODO committee was fulfilled per the request of President Lyn Montgomery. The committee will be charged with promoting the interests of our Spanish-speaking Flight Attendants in the LODO program. This committee will operate separately from the LODO subcommittee, which works with Management to develop and maintain the policies and procedures of the LODO program. The LODO committee will serve as a voice for the LODO community and will promote the interests of LODOs while educating others on Latin culture

On behalf of President Montgomery, Orlando-based Flight Attendant, Claudio Adams, has been appointed as chairperson of the new LODO Committee.

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Claudio Adams and I am honored and humbled to serve as the TWU Local 556 LODO Committee Chairperson. I have been flying for seventeen years and I have been involved with the LODO (Language of Destination/Origin) programs for most of my career. Although the LODO Program at Southwest Airlines has been in place for approximately five years, I have been involved with LODO programs for my entire airline career. I am excited to establish this new committee to create a better understanding of the program itself, and to share the culture and diversity it represents. I anticipate growth in our international market, and what we do now will last for generations of Flight Attendants to come.

I was born in the Dominican Republic, and at a young age, my mother married my German stepfather, whom I know to be my dad. We moved to Munich, Germany, where I attended school until we moved to the US at 15. Having had to learn German, English, and Spanish allowed me to appreciate the unique ways one can communicate. One of my personal goals is to learn Portuguese, as I hope we one day fly to Brazil.

We’re building the foundation for the future of our International service to Central and South America, I hope to serve our Flight Attendants and everyone involved in the LODO program as an ambassador to our culture and the languages we represent.

Claudio Adams
